Majority Of Americans Fed Up With Poor Customer Service

Americans are fed up with poor customer service, with 64 percent walking out of stores due to poor assistance and 67 percent hanging up on a call before their problems are even addressed, according to a new survey.

The most annoying gripe is not being able to get a person on the phone, followed by rude salespeople, according to findings from a Consumer Reports survey issued on Tuesday.

The findings are based on a phone survey of 1,010 adults conducted in March. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc's Walmart discount stores and Sam's Club members-only warehouse clubs were ranked by the magazine's subscribers among the worst in areas such as buying small appliances, electronics, cell phones and groceries.

Southwest Airlines Co was ranked as having the best staff on its airplanes, while US Airways Group Inc had the worst, Consumer Reports said.

When buying computers, Apple Inc stores and Micro Center were ranked by readers as having the most knowledgeable staff. The least capable associates were found at Walmart, Sam's Club and Costco Wholesale Corp.

Apple also won accolades in areas such as buying cell phones in stores and offering good computer tech support over the phone.

A variety of other computer makers comprised the worst in computer tech support via the phone: Acer/Gateway/eMachines, Asus, Dell, HP/Compaq, Sony and Toshiba.

    There are plenty of poor customer service business' in Greenville. One of the worst is the McDonald's on Tenth street at Charles Blvd. If you order at the drive thru, they take your order and promptly forget it. When you get to the window, they ask you three or four times what you just ordered and still get it wrong. They are slower then thick molasses. They seem too busy to attend to customers, because they are all carrying on a conversation with one another. The owners must be very absent or just simply don't care. Don't get me started with Walmart or Sam's Club employees. Plain rude..

      I totally agree with you. Bad customer service is one of my pet peeves.The workers in the deli department of Greenville WalMart are in the league of their own. They are the most rude, quick to ignore you people that I have ever encounter. Instead of the store being remodel they need to think about remodeling the people that they chose to hire.

    Ican agree with the walmart small appliance statement. BUT I feel this way. You don't buy TP in a clothing store, or a cell phone in a hardware store. This is the price being paid by the death of main street USA. Where you went to a jewlery store appliance shop or clothing store, and let's not forget the pharmacy at the corner. Now we have one stop stores and no one knowing about all merchandise. Sad sad sad.

    Look at who they hire.Mostly a bunch of obese non productive drain on society obama voters.Those companies get what they pay for.
