Deadline For Paying Property Taxes Has Passed

Time has run out for those of you who haven't paid your property taxes.

The deadline ended at 5:00 p.m. Thursday to pay the assessment value of your personal property. If you didn't pay, you will face a penalty.

In Pitt County, residents filed in to get those payments in on time. Some even started early to make sure they would be paid before the end of the day.

Deputy tax collector Ramon Revilla says, "We do set up payment plans, a lot tax payers don't know that, we try to set up plans to get them paid up so people start before they're past due but they can come in even now and try to set them up before the fiscal year."

If you set up early payments, you may have to do so based on last year's bill, since re-evaluation numbers could change how much you pay in taxes.

Why did my property taxes rise when the value of my home and land went way down last year?Is it because the people sitting in the tax offices and court houses voted theirselfs a pay raise while the rest of us in the private sector take a pay cut or even get laid off?Tyrrell county ranks 1 of the 3145 counties for property taxes as a percentage of median income. There is nothing here in this county for such a high tax rate.Us people in this county are really getting ripped off by the democrats in office here.Time to vote these crooked fools out.EVERY LAST ONE THEM!!!!

They went up to pay for all of the extra police protection we have now; that's why crime is down.
