Steve & Barry's Closing All Stores

Steve & Barry's will close all of its remaining stores, including two here in Eastern Carolina.

The national clothing chain had hopes to keep the remaining 173 stores open, but the chains new owners filed for bankruptcy last week.

The Steve & Barry's at the Greenville Mall and the one in Wilson will close sometime during the next 5 to 7 weeks as the locations liquidate their inventory.

I used to run that store (in Greenville). It is closed now, not in 5 to 7 weeks. The concept was a great idea, they just had the wrong people at the top running it. The new owners tried raising the prices from $7.98 to as much as $25.98. When you establish a customer base @ $7.98 pricing, you can't ask those same customers to pay $25.98. It seems the new owners weren't too bright either.
