Honolulu, HI -- The last of the individual state quarters went into circulation Monday, November 10th.
The coin representing Hawaii is the 50th and final coin released in the state quarter series. The US Mint started the program ten years ago.
The reverse of Hawaii’s quarter features Hawaiian monarch King Kamehameha I stretching his hand in the direction of the eight major Hawaiian Islands.
Four other designs were also considered during the selection.
