The Number Of American Millionaires Continues To Grow

Not everyone suffering from a sagging economy. The exclusive club of the very wealthy, continues to grow.

The Internal Revenue Service estimates that about 47,000 Americans had a net worth of $20 million or more in 2004, the latest available year.
That's because the I-R-S uses information from estate tax returns, which analyzes the wealth of wealthy people who have died.

Those 47,000 are up 62 percent from 1998, when only 29,000 were that rich. 79,000 Americans were worth between ten and 20 million in 2004... that's up from 77,000 just three years before.
