Hyde County Considers Tobacco Ban

Hyde County officials are considering banning smoking on all county-owned property.

A public hearing is scheduled at the Hyde County Commissioners meeting Monday at 7 p.m.

It is not yet clear what the punishment would be for people who violate the ordinance, if it passes.

What really needs to be address is the ugliness, unprofessionalism of the employees in the county offices to the public, that goes their for assistance. Not in one office, just about every office, except the register of deeds. They don't like doing their job(it is obvious), its about the pay check! But they are the ones I heard are getting the bigger pay check. You would not find people being so rude in Pitt County public offices and keep their jobs. Been their and experience the ugliness uncalled for.

Well, lets not complain too much, because the lack of professionallism and unprofessional dress codes does make pretty good entertainment for some.

Welcome to Hyde County...more drama than day time TV! Could this be the making of a new realty show? "Days of Hyde lives"

Rather than taking away or punishing others with a smoking ban why dont they fire the ones that gather up their little group on the way to the smoking stand 3-4 times a hour,it probably takes 5-7 minutes to smoke one cigeratte, either they dont have much work to do or they dont accomplish much,But what about those that eat at their desk....? talk or text endlessly, or play on the computor,, What it all boils down to is basic good management effectiveness, and people worthy of a pay check. A total lack of professionalism, look at dress code, attendance, on and on. Good employees are hard to find.

You must be kidding, remember former intern mgr recommended eliminating 12-15 positions and grouping other position, and fired some. WELL the commissioners dont take much of his advise, He was paid for his advise and they didnt like what he advised.

The citizens of Hyde County need to stand up and attend the meetings. These commissioners and county manager are doing some strange stuff. I bet most folks don't know whats going on with Emergency Services. Look at the ones who were given raises....they don't even work!

i cant believe some of the posts on here. regardless of whatever cigarettes cause it should be up to the individual to smoke or not. it should not be the state or countys decision. its like porn in a way. if you dont like it dont do it. but dont judge other ADULTS that want to smoke. it should be their decision. just like saywha? that posted on here. they are from washington. why are they posting on something for hyde county? and they call someone a moron ???? grow up people and stop letting the govt make decisions for you.. yea this hope and change is working out great....
