NEW INFO: ECU Student Charged With Drugs At Dorm

An East Carolina University student is in trouble with campus police for the second time this semester.

Cameron Alexander, 18, is in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond. The student is charged with three counts of possession of a schedule two drug, two counts of marijuana possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

University police arrested Alexander at Umstead Hall on Monday. Court documents say the woman had 1-1/2 ounces of pot, 13 methylphendate pills, 29-1/2 methylin pills, 6 adderal pills, and 4 glass pipes. They also seized $468 in cash, metal safes, two New York driver's licenses, and a box of dryer sheets.

Alexander was also cited August 19th outside of Aycock Hall for possessing less than a half ounce of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia.

ECU says students sign a form agreeing not to distribute or use drugs while living on campus or they will be banned from campus housing. Students can also face discipline under the student code of conduct, including counseling, community service or even expulsion.

A detention center official said she was arrested by ECU police around 6 a.m. Monday. The university today says the teen is no longer enrolled at ECU.
