It didn't take long for this lottery winner to come forward in Jacksonville. She bought her winning ticket from the same store that had an unclaimed $1 million ticket that expired just weeks ago.
Tammy Mintz, who manages another convenience store, bought her Carolina Cash 5 ticket at the Wilco Hess at Western and Gum Branch Road. She will split $764,146 with a Greensboro woman who also picked the same five winning numbers.
The Jacksonville woman plans to use her winnings to help her mother, who is suffering from diabetes and heart disease. "My Mom is ill and her medication is expensive so I plan to make her life a little easier," Mintz said.
Mintz said she would use some of her winnings to pay bills and then save the rest for retirement. She says her employer doesn't allow their employees to play the lottery at Whizz Mart gas stations so she purchased her tickets at a competitor.
Mintz brought 10 tickets for the Wednesday drawing and it was the 10th ticket that she brought that matched all the winning numbers. "Something just told me to go and buy some tickets," said Mintz.
Earlier this year the same Wilco Hess sold a $1 million winning ticket that was never claimed.
