Romney Releases Tax Returns

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney paid about $3 million in federal income taxes in 2010 according to tax returns released Tuesday morning.

Romney's returns show most of his $21.7 million income came from his investments. He also gave nearly $3 million combined to charitable causes and the Mormon Church, helping reduce his effective tax rate to about 14 percent.

The former Massachusetts governor has been under pressure in recent weeks to release his tax returns. Rival Newt Gingrich made his returns public on Saturday, showing he paid almost $1 million in income taxes.

Romney's campaign plans to discuss his returns in depth with reporters Tuesday morning.

For those of you who want to compare. When Obama ran in 2008, he released his 2006 tax return. He had paid 24%. Romney has released the same return ( 2 years prior) and he paid 13.9% Now, that's a comparison of who is willing to support his country. On top of that, Obama thinks he should pay more-Romney wants to pay less!

What these fools seem to not get is Romney was taxes when he had income. He is 65 now. Now he makes only capital gains on his investments which Obama doesn't like. Of course, that remark he made was the most irresponsible thing the guy ever said. Maybe someone should be advising him on how that works. If you increase taxes on capital gains, you will make it so no one will invest in company stocks and finish off those companies. What an idiot.

Hussein , Insane what ever appoints " Tax Cheat " GE's Jeffrey Immelt as Obamas point man on jobs & economic growth? LOL. The top tax bracket for U.S. corporations stands at 35%, one of the highest rates in the world. So how is it possible that a giant of American business, General Electric, paid nothing in federal taxes last year, even as it made billions in profit? And should the CEO of GE, Jeffrey Immelt, be advising the president on business? For 2 years, President Obama has been talking about the need for corporate tax reform, declaring that the system is too complicated and that companies pay too much. "Simplify, eliminate loopholes, treat everybody fairly," Obama said in February. For those unaccustomed to the loopholes and shelters of the corporate tax code, GE's success at avoiding taxes is nothing short of extraordinary. The company, led by Immelt, earned $14.2 billion in profits in 2010, but it paid not a penny in taxes because the bulk of those profits, some $9 billion, were offshore. In fact, GE got a $3.2 billion tax benefit. Seems like we all could learn how not to pay taxes from Jeff. I bet the Obama's got a Jeff's tax cheat's crash course. Mitt should take Jeff's tax cheat lessons. LOL

NONE of Romney's "income" was listed as "income". ALL of it was capital gains. Which means that all was taxed at the 15% rate. He, himself, has said he has been "unemployed" for the last 7 years. Secondly: He paid no tax on money in Switzerland or the Caymans. He and the GOP is pushing to have Capital Gains tax eliminated!! If that happens, he will pay -0-!! In fact, in Cain's 999-Capital Gain's tax was eliminated! Finally, it was NOT Obama who demanded Romney to release his taxes, it was Christie, Perry, and Gingrich, so there is no point in comparing these taxes to Obama at all-compare Romney's taxes to Gingrich's history all you want!!

You know, reading all the gripes here from both sides just cements my feelings that this country is bound for collapse within the next fifty years. Government, as a whole, is just wealthy, self-privileged people doing their best to control everything the way they, and their cronies, want it done. And who suffers the consequences?.... All of us sitting here reading this drivel daily. Does anyone in Government really care one iota about what the general public thinks about their tax return? I'll live dangerously and say, uh....NO. Do they even care about us at all? Did you give them any money? There's your answer. A flat tax would make things a lot easier but then why would we want everybody to pay the same percentage? That wouldn't be fair, would it?

Let's see. How long did it take Obama to release his birth certificate which was probably fake? Oh, I remember now. Two years or more. He still refuses to let anyone examine the document to see if it's authentic. According to news reports he has spent over two million dollars in legal fees to keep his college grades and other college records from being seen by the public. Records like IF he applied to college as a non-citizen. In other words as a foreign student. At least Romney was open and honest about his tax returns. Wonder what Obama is hiding?

Wow, has the president stirred hatred over wealth.....class warfare? This is why he is gone in 2012 as it will be his undoing. I really don't care if someone is rich if they earned it and paid taxes, infact, huge amounts in relation to what I pay. But then we have the entitlement kids that are spawned on by Obamas wealth redistribution statement. Truth is, you are already participating in it yourself with gas prices, food and costs of goods. Your money and the poor are redistributing it to the middle east, SA and Europe. Wellcome of hope and change....idiots....they just vote.

Obama did not invent the gap between the classes! It has been increasing for over ten years! Also, it would NOT BE warfare, if the GOP would quit denying that it exists and allow for fair tax laws! The middle class is being attacked-if we have to ignore that to prevent being accused of "class warfare", then call it whatever you want to!!

Is fair when they get money back in returns after not paying into the system? So you think the middleclass and lower middle class should no pay anything while using more of the government services? The feeling about taxes in America can trace its roots to the Boston Tea Party. It was a tax placed on tea by the English Parliment. The proce of the tea, even with the tax, would be lower than the alternative tea available to the colonists. They tossed the tea overboard rather than pay the tax. BHO expects all wage earners to volunteer to pay more taxes. What a niaive philosophy. People who work for a living, earn their money, expect to keep it. They earned it, for goodness sake. Why should they surrender it agreeably? Read about Romney; he was born in Detroit, went to public schools, attended a private school, went to Stanford, did missionary work, returned to BYU, Harvard law, and went into business. First, for someone, then himself. He earned his financial security. He paid his taxes according to the tax laws. If there is qualms about the taxes he paid, look at the writers of the tax laws.

Really... you people who at any moment have a good chance at losing your job to the Chinese, actually back this capitalistic offshore tax evader... I all for fairness, but when the Corporate Leaders of this nation say that "Globalization" is the future, they mean scouring the world for the cheapest labor and products. You don't think there are Mitt Romneys out there trying to figure out how to move your job to Communist China or India? Better believe it... And the republicans want to get rid of all of the benefits that make your standard of living possible... like a pension, social security, or a minimum wage... Republicans didn't even want to extend the payroll tax... I mean really?

Oh, I am sorry, they are democrats aren't they. So if you have money in a 401K, there is a pretty good chance its an offshore tax evader like Jeffrey Imelt, CEO of GE, oh, sorry again, hes a democrat and one of Obimbos biggest supporter especially after those billion dollar military contracts he got for GE and then those CEO's at Solyndra...oopps, did it again, another big Obama supporter that went bankrupt with US taxpayer money. All you're post proves, OSOC, is that a law should be created that severly limites how much corporations and individuals can contribute to a campaign. It wouldn't bother me in the least if we restricted how much the candidates can spend on campaigns.

My post was to let you know who gave money. And if you think about who, you wonder why? This just confirms the concerted effort to elect the socialist in the whitehouse, not a republic man, a socialist. And the part that bothers me the most, the banks and investment groups. Why are they on this list? OWS is a made up protest for Obama as I am not fool, don't play me as one. If you recall, McCain didn't want to run his campaign on these kind of contributions until he had no choice, Obama was taking them in like fish in a fishing boat. Obama said he wouldn't, it was his first lie.
