Police say they'll be searching today the area were a missing Fort Bragg soldier was last seen. They believe Private First Class Kelli Bordeaux may be in danger. They're asking for the public's help in finding her.
The 23-year-old Bordeaux was reported missing Monday to Fayetteville Police when she didn't show up for duty. She was last seen leaving Froggy Bottoms bar in Fayetteville early Saturday morning. An army official says she got a ride with a bar employee and sent two text messages, including one that said "got home safely."
Bordeaux's mother says her daughter lives off base with her husband, who was in Florida when she disappeared. Johnna Henson says authorities told her about something strange that may have happened when Bordeaux got home from the bar. "Supposedly when the guy that was giving her a ride home was taking her to her apartment, he got to her apartment and something spooked her. So she didn't want, or she said, 'No, no, no, just let me out here instead of taking her like, around the corner to her apartment or whatever. But I don't understand that," Henson said.
Military officials told NBC News that Bordeaux was estranged from her husband of nearly two years, Mike. When asked how he was doing, Bordeaux's sister, Olivia Cox said, "Mike is doing the best he can with his wife missing."
The military also says the bar employee who drove Bordeaux home from the bar is not considered a suspect.
Bordeaux is described as 5-feet tall, weighing 99-pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a pink halter top and black shorts when she disappeared.
Bordeaux's Facebook page says she is from Orlando, Florida but lives in Fayetteville.
Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine says the woman's cell phone pinged off towers near the I-295 corridor.
Anyone with information on Bordeaux is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (910) 483-TIPS.
