Plantiffs Suing Over Redistricting Ask For NC Primary Delay

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Democrats and advocacy groups suing over new Republican-drawn maps for legislative and congressional districts say the state's May 8 primary should be delayed until July 10 while judges decide whether the boundaries are unconstitutional.

The plaintiffs who've challenged the redistricting plans have formally filed a motion asking a panel of three judges to prevent the maps from being used this year. The lawsuits allege the boundary lines are illegal because they cross too many county lines and its authors used racial considerations above all else without good reason.

The preliminary injunction motion asks for the two-month primary delay but suggests the court could wait until Aug. 28 while the maps run through the courts.

A hearing on the state's motion to dismiss the consolidated lawsuits is scheduled Thursday.

As long as the plantiffs pay every cent of the cost of the delay out of their pockets, no problem. The rest of us should not have to pay for their actions.

Just as predicted. Dems looking for any reason to put off constitutional elections. It won't stop at the state level people. Just wait and see what your commander and cheat tries to pull leading up to Nov this year. Of course it won't be him directly calling for postponing elections, it will be the democrat socialist Marxist machine. Hopefully the House can stop it.

I guess the Dems are mad because they no longer have the gerrymandered Districts that they drew years ago. Case in point: Look at the Mel Watts district (or what it was); it looked like a snake going through many counties.
