As we face the start of another hurricane season in just a couple of weeks, some in the east are still rebuilding after hurricane Irene nearly two years ago. A Pamlico County church is looking for some help.

Volunteers working on Zion Christian Church in Merritt in Pamlico County are finally wrapping up repairs after damage from Irene in August of 2011. The "Baptist Men disaster relief volunteers say they have put countless hours of labor and 20 thousand dollars into the church including a new roof and dry wall. They say that's their cap for financial support on the project and the church is now asking for others to help, as the Baptist Men volunteers move on to other projects.

"When the carpet gets here my husband can put the pews where they need to be, but what we would really like someone or somebody to do since these people are in their 80's- is to help getting the pews upholstered," said church volunteer Bettie Williams.

The church expects to open in a couple of months.
