New Policy For Incoming Freshmen At ECU

A new policy at East Carolina University will require all freshman to live on campus starting this fall.

ECU said there are some exemptions to this new live-in policy. The policy does not apply to students who are already 21 years old, military veterans, married students, students who have children living with them, or those who live with their parents within 35 miles of the Greenville campus.

The ECU website says the new policy aims to improve student retention. Students who live on campus generally return to school the next year at a higher rate with a higher GPA than those living off campus their first year, according to the ECU website.
