After 2 women were attacked by a pit bull in Greenville Wednesday, we heard from many viewers that there are lots of loving pit bulls that make great pets. We spoke to a pit bull owner who says her dog isn't just a pet, he saved her life.

Kassy Sweet of New Bern was born with a heart condition that causes her blood pressure to frequently drop, her heart rate to become irregular and ultimately cause her to pass out. Not being able to afford a service dog, she decided to adopt a Lucas the pit bull five months ago just as a pet. It didn't take her long to realize that the dog was actually responding to her heart condition and would find ways to show her right before she passed out.

"Pit bulls should not be deemed vicious and uncontrollable as they are in the media. There are dogs like Lucas out there that help save lives everyday," said Sweet.

Sweet feels that pit bulls get a bad reputation from incidents like Tuesday's attacks. She says it's the dog's owners who should be held responsible for a vicious dog, not the dog itself.
