New Stores, Restaurants Moving Into Greenville

A growing city is getting even bigger.

From places to pamper your pet and places to pig out, Greenville will have a little more of both.

Mary C. Pierce from Ahoskie travels to Greenville not only for the restaurants, but to shop for her dog.

Pierce says, "I always like to try new restaurants, I do. I love new options, that's great! Any addition is a bonus."

In the old Circuit City building off Greenville Boulevard, a new Petco is moving in.

Shopper Heather Burney says, "I think it's always good to have competition for companies. You don't want to have a monopoly on any thing and one company getting all the business in a certain city."

The 2,800 square foot building is too big for just a pet store, which is why the developers are breaking the building into parts.

The permit card on the door shows, a Kirklands and a Sleepy's Mattress store will also move in. And it just continues!

Off Firetower Road, Ribeye's Steakhouse is refurbishing the old Daily Grind restaurant. It will be the tenth franchise in Eastern Carolina, according to the owner.

Elsewhere, Brody Co plans to slice up an old O'Charley's and make half of it a Chipotle Mexican Grill. Developers aren't sure what the other half will become.

City developers say chopping up big box stores is a rising trend and reason for an uptick in permits in recent months.
