National Hurricane Center: Could Be Quiet Atlantic Hurricane Season

Early indications from the National Hurricane Center point to what could seem like a quiet Atlantic hurricane season.

The center's new director expects an average season, with 12 tropical systems, and around 6 becoming hurricanes. The center is expected to issue its full forecast during the second half of May. Last year, hurricane Irene was the only hurricane to hit the U.S.

The Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1st and ends on November 30th.
