NC Attorney General: Domestic Violence Murders Up

Murders from domestic violence were up last year across the state according to the Attorney General.

Roy cooper says the 122 murders in 2012 represents a 15-percent increase. Wake County, with the state's second highest population, led the way with 11 domestic violence murders, Mecklenburg County, with the state's biggest population was second with eight.

In eastern carolina, Pitt had the most domestic deaths with three, followed by Onslow with 2. A handful of other counties had one, but many didn't have any. Law enforcement agencies must report domestic violence-related murders yearly to the State Bureau of Investigation.
