Match Day At ECU

Med students across the country, and here in Eastern Carolina, learned Friday where they will spend the better part of the next decade at the annual match day ceremony.

Every year on match day, soon to be graduates learn where they will be spending the next 4 to seven years completing their residencies.

ECU's ceremony took place at the Brody Medical Sciences Building inside a packed auditorium full of excited students and their families.

Eighty students walked across the stage to receive the letter that tells them where in the country their first job will be.

Med student Korsica Lassiter said, "Today is the culmination of twenty something years of work and four years of medical school. It's the best day to find out you've put it all together and someone wants you to treat their patients."

Lassiter is a Riverside High School graduate and will be spending her residency in Johnson City, Tennessee.
