Jacksonville Police Holiday Task Force Up & Running

While it's the giving time of year, its also typically the stealing time of year. And that's where the Jacksonville Holiday Task Force comes in.

Jacksonville Police say while you may buy gifts for loved ones, thieves stand ready to try and nab them.

Jacksonville Police Sergeant Marc Holden says, "People are going to walk by your car and see that new Xbox and it's Christmas for them."

That's where the task force comes in.

Chief Michael Yaniero says the presence of the added officers at the mall helps deter people from breaking into cars or snatching purses.

Police also say shoppers can do their part by locking what you buy in your trunk.

Chief Yaniero says two people were caught shoplifting by the task force the day before Thanksgiving. police say the recovered $6,000 worth of stolen merchandise in the suspects car.
