Greenville Runner In Boston Marathon Holds Run To Help Sports Amputees


Several hundred runners and walkers turned out Saturday morning for a 5K and 1 mile run/walk/roll inspired by a Greenville runner who crossed the Boston Marathon finish line minutes before the first bomb exploded last spring.

Dionne Evans says she wanted to do something to help give back and make a difference

Evans says the Run for One 5K will help amputees get back into an active lifestyle.

The proceeds from the event will go to the "Challenged Athletes Foundation" to assist amputees in sports acquire the limbs they need to participate.

Evans says close to 200 people participated and a total on how much money was raised is still being tallied.
