Greenville Group Fights Black On Black Crime

The Benevolence Corps in Greenville is waging war on black on black crime. The president of the organization, Keith Cooper, says research shows roughly 7,000 blacks are murdered each year, nationwide, and 94% of the time, the murderer is another black person.

Just last month 4 people were shot, one killed in downtown Greenville and all the victims and suspects were black. Cooper says they have a 5-point plan to curb crime from gun buy-back problems, light at night community watch programs, and increased police involvement.

"Often times people talk the talk but they don't walk the walk. I think we need to put our deeds into actions and get the ball rolling. I'll do my part," said Cooper.

Cooper plans to get the ball rolling with a community forum August 2nd at the C.M. Eppes center on Nash Street in Greenville starting at 6pm.
