A former Eastern Carolina elementary school teacher will spend the next 17-1/2 years in federal prison after admitting he produced child porn on the Internet.
Matthew Metcalf of New Bern was sentenced Wednesday in Raleigh. The 41-year-old Metcalf was a 5th grade teacher at W.J. Gurganus Elementary School in Havelock when he was arrested last summer.
The feds says Metcalf used the name "14yoVideoMaster" to upload apparent child porn images to YouTube. They say the teacher also encouraged children to produce sexual images of themselves online.
After serving his prison sentence, Metcalf will be on lifetime supervised release.
