Ferry Runs Into Channel Marker On Currituck Sound

MANNS HARBOR, N.C. (AP) -- A state-operated ferry has run into a channel marker in Currituck Sound, but officials say no one was hurt and none of the vehicles on the ferry were damaged.

The DOT's Ferry Division said the Motor Vessel Hunt ran into the channel marker around 1:50 p.m. Thursday. There was some damage to the windows in the ferry's lounge.

The Hunt has been tied up until repairs can be made. The Motor Vessel Ocracoke has been brought in, and the division said no departures will be missed.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been informed about the incident, which is required, and will report its findings about the incident to the Ferry Division.
