ECU Dental School Dedication

It's something many are smiling about as the new ECU Dental School was dedicated Friday.

The dedication of Ledyard E. Ross Hall took place Friday afternoon. The dental school building is named for Dr. Ross of Ayden, who contributed 4-million dollars to the School of Dentistry, one of the largest donations in ECU history.

The dental school is on the ECU Health Sciences campus, near the hospital.

ECU Dental School Dean Greg Chadwick led the effort to open the school to address the shortage of dentists in rural counties, like Tyrrell, Hyde and Camden who have no dentists.

The 188,000 square foot building houses dental clinics, and teleconfrence rooms, where students can interact with students at similar facilities in the state.

Second year students will see patients at the Greenville facility next month.
