A former high school track coach is back in the Pitt County jail after authorities say he violated his probation.
Derek Phelps of Greenville was arrested today by Pitt County deputies after they say he had and was using a Facebook page.
The 24-year-old was a cross country coach at D.H. Conley High School and was arrested last year for communicating with a 13-year-old boy via text messages. He was convicted on two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery and served a 60-day sentence in the county jail. Phelps was also required to register as a sex offender.
He was charged today with the felony crime of a sex offender using a social website and his bond was set at $10,000.
