A day at the beach turned into a "Home Alone" moment Saturday when a 5-year-old was left behind when her family left the beach.
Atlantic Beach police say they received a report from a lost child at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers searched the beach strand for several hours without any calls from the child's parents.
Officers at the department where eventually able to contact the parents by cell phone as they were returning home. The child's parents and grandparents had visited the beach for the day in separate vehicles and each assumed the other had custody of the child.
The child was reunited with her parents at about 8 p.m. No charges were filed against the parents or grandparents.
