NASA remembers the lives lost on all space missions today, the tenth anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.

NASA will honor the 17 people who died in the Apollo I disaster as well as the Challenger and Columbia explosions. Administrator Charles Bolden and other officials will hold an observance at the astronaut memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. A wreath-laying ceremony will also take place at the Space Mirror Memorial at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Captain Michael Smith of Beaufort was killed when the Challenger exploded in 1986. The airport in Beaufort is named for the late astronaut.
