NEW INFO: Police Looking for Gunman After Victim Shot In Rear End

Kinston Police have issued a warrant for the man they believe pistol whipped one victim, and shot another in the rear end.

Police said they got a call around 10:20 Tuesday night near the intersection of Queen and King Streets in Kinston. Police found Joante Keys suffering from a gunshot wound to his rear end. Keys told the responding officers he and his brother, Monty Brown Jr., were near Carver Courts when he got shot. Keys said he flagged down an EMS unit. Police later found Brown and had him transported to Vidant Medical Center.

Police have an attempted murder warrant out for 20 year old Keyno Coward.

Kinston Police responded to a report of two people shot at Carver Courts Housing in Kinston on East Bright Street about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday and told dispatchers they found one victim shot in the rear end and another pistol whipped.

An officer at the scene said one person was taken to the hospital, but we have no word on names of the people involved or the conditions of the people injured.
