The Ayden Police Department says it's 2 dog K-9 Unit assists nearby agencies. In fact, one of its K-9s dog helped in the effort to sniff out a suspect in Grifton Wednesday morning.
Zeiko went out on the search Wednesday. The other dog in the unit is 21-month-old Bart.
Ayden's police chief Barry Stanley says having these dogs benefits the South Pitt County agencies, who don't have dogs on the force
"You got a lot of times Greenville is so busy and the county is so busy the dogs may be tied up and having one in the south part of the county. We can be a benefit to Grifton in a manner of minutes to Winterville. It's a plus for those 2 agencies," said Chief Stanley.
The dogs have been with the department for just a month. They replace 2 other dogs that started the unit in 2012.
