FIRST ON WITN: Guilty Plea In Pit Bull Toes Eating Case

Jacksonville, NC - The parents of a baby whose toes were chewed off by a puppy were given prison time after pleading guilty in an Onslow County court Thursday.

Robbie Jenkins, and her boyfriend, Tremayne Spillman, both admitted to felony negligent child abuse inflicting serious injury and a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Spillman also plead to felony larceny.

The couple told lawmen they were watching a friend's 12-week-old pit bull puppy, and while they slept, the dog chewed the toes off the four-month-old baby. The puppy was put down and the baby was put in foster care after the incident last August.

The judge sentenced Jenkins 45 days on a misdemeanor charge, while given 8 to 10 months on the felony charge. The woman has already served 5 months of that sentence in jail.

Spillman was given 10 to 12 months on the felony count and 45 days on the other charge and 4 to 5 months on the larceny charge. He has already served more than six months in jail.

The judge ordered both to take a parenting classes while in prison.
