Pat Robertson: Haiti "Cursed" By Pact With Devil

Evangelical broadcaster Pat Robertson says Haiti has been "cursed" because of what he called a "pact with the devil" in its history.

His spokesman said the Wednesday comments were based on Voodoo rituals carried out before a slave rebellion against French colonists in 1791.

Spokesman Chris Roslan says Robertson never stated that Tuesday's earthquake was God's wrath. He says Robertson's Operation Blessing group is sending millions of dollars in medication and relief workers to the country.

Robertson has angered opponents many times before with comments on current events and criticism of other faiths.

He once said American agents should assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and said Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for withdrawing from the Gaza Strip.

he will just say that it is because the devil is against him, or something equally lame. this has nothing to do with my understanding of haiti's history. follower, you're just leaning to your own understanding and don't know Pat or the complete history regarding Haiti. God tells you in Proverbs 3:5-7 Proverbs 3:5-8 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. follower, He is Gods' beloved Pat.

rick, im sure you watch pat robertson on tv and enjoy it. i wouldnt be determined for him to be discredited if he wasnt misrepresenting those of us who want to show compassion as Christ would want us to, rather than to pass a judgement that we are not authorized to. what has a pact with the devil got to do with an earthquake? why would he bring that up? pat robertson thinks he is some kind of prophet. if we say he is wrong, he will just say that it is because the devil is against him, or something equally lame. this has nothing to do with my understanding of haiti's history. it has to do with the timing of the statement. what exactly do you mean by 'mete shall be multiplied'? is this my sentence for not agreeing with your beloved pat?

I do not beleive it was meant to be an insult. This is petty childish.Pat is a religious leader. The comment were not to envoke "back patting" to his intellectual historical knowledge. If fact Follower you are right.WHO CARES ? You do ! Why are you so determined to for him to be discredited. There might be other reasons why he said it. You don't want to understand.I would not be so hasty to condemn him. "Mete",shall be returned multiplied unto you. This I do beleive.Whether it be good or bad ,giving or taking, and the tongue has it's own reward .There are some things I wouldn't touch with a loose tongue in this life. The power of LIFE AND DEATH can rest in Words and """by one's own words??"""

Forget Pat Robertson. Rush Limbaugh is God. Buddah, actually, but still a God. He sits under the Oxycotin tree, belly hanging over his knees, just waiting for gravity to bring him peace. (in the form of falling Oxycotin tablets, obviously.)

the problem with what PR said isnt whether its debatable. who cares if its true or not? our country has just as much evil and wrong happening in it if not more than haiti. the problem is that he chose to say this at a time when the people are suffering. as if to boast his historical knowlege and presumed insider intel on Gods plan for haiti. it was a statement to promote himself, there could be no other reason for it. he can give all he wants to haiti, it wont change that he insulted them on tv without apology.

thanks for the comment Anonymous. So true. Harry, good point, God will not be mocked and he tells us "Vengeance is mine, I will repay." For thou shalt not murder. Fighting in war protecting your country and death penalty are issues are understood by God and allowed by him. But killing innocent unborn babies is horrible and will have its consequences. He appoints laws & leaders and removes them as well. He giveth and taketh away. What a mighty God we serve! Vote for Pro-life leaders which acknowledge God and I believe God will spare his own from his wrath which will come down on this country later on. Just like Sodom and Gomorrah. He spared Lot.

What happens to the USA for the millions of aborted lives that have been taken?

PhD, nobody asked you to be one. God doesn't knock on everybody's door, only those that knock. And no one has to belive in GOD, that's why there is Hell. Truth makes folks mad and puts them on the defense. Nonbelievers response is to try to discredit with nonsense, with arguments that can't be proven.
