22 More Animal Carcasses Found In New York Backyard

Authorities have found 22 more animal carcasses buried in a Long Island, New York backyard. A month ago, 20 dead dogs were uncovered there.

Roy Gross of the Suffolk County SPCA says authorities returned to Sharon McDonough's home in Selden. He did not say whether the newly uncovered carcasses were dogs or cats.

Gross says it's unlikely that the dead dogs found last month had been stolen. That was the initial fear of neighbors whose pets vanished.

McDonough has pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty. Officials say more charges are possible. She lost custody of her six youngest children following her arrest last month.

McDonough's adult son turned her in. He claims the animals were tortured.

I am from Arkansas..have all my own teeth, wear shoes and am not married to my first cousin...SO what the heck is the purpose of this north/south fight. We should concentrate on the poor animals...tortured by a woman from NEW YORK!! (which is rather far north of the M/D line.

The sad thing here people, are the animals and the children that possibly witnessed these horrible acts of torture. Maybe if we stop pointing fingers and calling names long enough, we would see the real victims here. Most of these comments below are a good example of how so called "adults" handle themselves and yet we expect our kids to grow up to be model citizens??? Lord help us.

It is weird that the story is about dogs and not what part of the world we are from. I'm a Yankee born and raise but I live here in NC. I'm proud that I'm a Yankee and I'm proud to live here in NC. get over it people no one really cares if you are a southern or a northern be proud that we are americans.

I wonder why it is that Northern schools consistently lead the country in academics while southern schools are reeling. Face it people, the south is the armpit of the good old USA. YOU'S GUYS have a great day!

To Duffy: If you want to pick on slang terms, northerners running around say "yous guys" does not sound intelligent either. Since your from up north I'll explain "you" should not be plural. It's really just annoying. So do not go into poor speech. Also just because the school your kids entered was behind does not mean they all are. And this one is for Shelton also. If northerners are so super terrific and wonderful why don't you carry your YANKEE butts back where you came from. I'm sure we could all be successful finding employment up north if we could just learn to say "yous guys" instead of "ya'll" and then run around acting like a bunch arrogant jerks.

To Dave & Duffy. Or should I say Dumb & Dumber. If the north is so great, why don't you head that way. I-95 North will have your ignorant butts there in just a few hours. Have a Great Day!

I vote for that wall at the Mason Dixon line but think about what that means. The southeast would lose out on the more educated moving south and would become entire black and mexican so quickly that we would have make a cut in the earth at the Mason Dixon line and let you float off as your own island. Hey, sounds good - you could call it Stupid Island. If you can read, you may want to check your own local news about murders, child abuse, animal abuse, unemployment, and so much more that you can't possibly consider NC superior to anyplace.

I moved from up north to NC to help with a family health issue and let me tell you why people from NC don't move up north. My kids were more than two years ahead when they started school here. Between the poor educational system here, the "ethnic colleges" giving anyone who attends a degree, and the very poor speech here (ain't, won't instead of weren't, carry instead of take, and many more) making many sound less than intelligent, few would be successful in finding employment "up north."

Stupid stuff happens all over. The West and North will say what they will about the South, but it was a young woman from North Carolina who beat a young woman from California because the latter was a bigot. Not the one from the South, the one from the West. Bigotry and prejudice outside the South? Not a myth. I've been all around this country, from Washington State, all over California, to Texas, to South Carolina, up to Connecticut, and no matter where you go you can find good people as well as bad people. And this (this story) is bad, but it could have happened anywhere. WITN is an NBC affiliate; they report local news as well as a selection of news from around the country. All NBC affiliates do that, as well as those with CBS, FOX, ABC, and others. (I'd be curious as to who makes the selections and how, though.)
