Man's TV Destroyed By Firing Squad After Saints Beat 'Skins

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A Louisiana man who bet against the New Orleans Saints has lost his 60-inch high-definition, flat-screen TV to a backyard firing squad, but he also became an Internet star.

Wayne A. Spring told his friends that if New Orleans beat the Washington Redskins on Sunday, anyone who wanted could come to his house and shoot his television.

Spring said as soon as the undefeated Saints kicked the winning field goal, his phone started ringing.

About a dozen gun-toting Saints fans showed up at his home in Albany, about 50 miles northwest of New Orleans, and shot up his TV in the back yard.

Spring put the video on YouTube and says it has had over 145,000 hits in three days.

Authorities said the TV shooting apparently didn't break any laws.

Just shy of 763,000 now. Regarding guns, the guy had a pretty big piece of property, I don't think there was ever any danger of being caught in the crossfire. These guys were definitely the stereotypical rednecks Jeff Foxworthy has gotten rich making jokes about, but none looked uncomfortable or unfamiliar with the gun he was shooting. I don't see the problem there. And banning guns would be a huge step back. Because then only cops and criminals have guns. Make guns illegal, and people willing to carry illegal firearms have that much more incentive to commit random crimes, if honest citizens cannot protect themselves, their loved ones, and their possessions. "More guns" hardly sounds like a problem, but if more people had them, random crime would be a lot more dangerous to commit than it is. Rather, "more gun *safety*" is the answer. Teach honest people how to care for guns, keep them away from kids. Reduce accidents. Not the rights of honest citizens.

derek, let's not make any assumptions about the unsafe use of firearms in this case. for all you know this gentleman lives on a 500 acre farm. but then again for people like you it wouldn't matter because guns scare you regardless of the circumstances. ignorance is bliss derek, don't knock something because you don't know anything about it...and while you're at it, lighten up!

He now has just over 555,000 views. Must be nice to be able to afford to just shoot up your TV. He was probably looking at getting a bigger one (do they get that much bigger than 60"?) and wanted an excuse to get rid of the old one. I'd have taken it off his hands if this were closer. Missing the point, I know, but still, what a shame.

well, it is very fortunate that nobody was accidentally shot during this exhibition of stupidity. Its a trajedy when a child is shot by a bullet that traveled through a wall, but when morons shoot their guns in public, its a joke. Just when you think this country is moving a step forward, people like this bring it two steps back.

This is a crime! That man obviously hates "colored" TVs. It's a hate crime! Where are Jessie & Al? The NAACP is gonna explode when they get wind of this.
