Local Turkey To Receive Presidential Pardon

A turkey from Eastern Carolina is going to gobble up some big attention this Thanksgiving, and won't be gobbled up himself. That's because it will be getting an official presidential pardon.

The turkey from Wayne County will be spared this holiday, it has been meeting with school kids. The Goldsboro Argus says the 40 pound fowl comes from the farm of Bryant and Debbie Worley in Wayne County.

The annual Turkey Pardon has been occurring for 62 years and it is a wonderful annual tradition. This has nothing to do with any sitting president. This has to do with remembering why we celebrate Thanksgiving in this country of ours. The best presidents at pardoning turkeys were Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton -- this came so naturally for both gentlemen. Happy Thanksgiving, my fellow Americans.

This is gross. It is in the same vein as Hilter choosing a random Jewish person and publicly saving them from the concentration camp.

My family will be having a simple potluck of what we can afford and discussing how to deal with the difficult issues regarding my aging grandmother, who is in a care center and no longer able to live on her own. Fun, huh? That last part is my mom's idea since we all live about 2 hours apart. She's nothing if not practical. So... they get gifts besides the turkey? Russ: They were supposed to eat it. That was the original purpose. Someone should. There's two of them.. a backup in case one dies or something. *smacks forehead*

Audra, your right; he and his family will be waited on hand and foot, and the White House chefs will prepare a magnificent meal for them. They will also have private entertainment by celebrities, and gifts. They will dress in designer outfits, and have professional photographers take their pictures. By the way, what will you and your family be doing for Thanksgiving?

I nominate the turkey for a Nobel Peace Prize for his continued "love and admiration" of school children.

Oh dear God... Why am I the first person to actually say this..? Is it supposed to be cute that the president has time to officially pardon a freakin' turkey? A turkey. Poultry. I know this has been going on since 1989 but the stupidity of it has not changed. If Obama is trying to get people to take him seriously, this isnt going to improve matters. I'd rather he spend his time figuring out how to put the country back together than waste it on the ceremonial presentation of a bird. If he wants to help anyone, maybe that turkey (and it's alternate) should be cooked up and given to a couple of jobless families. I KNOW he ain't havin' a TV Dinner on Thanksgiving.

Me: If you're confused, either they changed the story before I read it or you need to read it again. It's one of the shortest articles I've seen on WITN and not that difficult to understand.
