Raleigh Man Leaves $1.7 Million Estate To Four Cat Charities

A Raleigh man has left his nearly $1.7 million estate to four North Carolina cat charities.

WRAL-TV reported Thursday that Emil Campbell died suddenly last month and left instructions for his lawyer to bequeath his entire estate to cats.

Attorney Bobby Khot says Campbell left the money to four charities: Snowflake Animal Rescue, Marley's Cat Tales, SAFE Haven for Cats and Second Chance Pet Adoptions.

A spokeswoman for Snowflake Animal Rescue says her organization typically gets less than $6,000 a year in donations. She says she had to read the letter about Campbell's donation twice before she believed it.

Khot says his client didn't work at a high paying job but was very frugal and saved money. He says Campbell had one surviving daughter.

I think it was very nice of him to leave his money to cat charities. For those who "don't get it", maybe cats treated him better than people did!

Let the man leave his money to whoever he wants to. Cats are at the mercy of humans. If you don't spay and neuter they will multiply. Let the humans who bring all these children into this world take care of those children.

The Randall B. Terry, Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center is at the Raleigh Vet School NCSU. Randall made huge donations to the school on behalf of his golden retrievers, when he died. Call me crazy, lune....it is a worth cause. Sherrie and Janell, great posts. I have posted a little on this on witn. I have a golden retriever who was a test case for a pharmaceutical company. She has Myasthnia Gravis and is the only survivor after the other 10 dogs on her program. I have given to the Raleigh Vet School many times as they are the ones who saved her. She has a normal life and is smarter than most people that post here daily. Without the donations by Randal, that golden would have been buried 6 years ago. So, go just another nut, I am with you.

Robert, you obviously know nothing of Joy and the Marley fund. The money will be spent for the cats - that is what she has devoted her life to. AND, did you know Mr. Campbell's family? Perhaps they encouraged him to do whatever he wanted with HIS money...and that was help the cats! Luckily, you can give your entire estate to whomever or whatever you would like!!!

To the lady who was saying what about all the kids--well the kids were brought into this world by their parents and people have a choice to have a kid or not and if you have one, you take care of it and support it. Animals do not have a choice. If they are not spayed or neutered, they cannot control their nature and therefore have more offspring. I applaud this man for leaving money to cat charities. I only donate to animal charities and I love animals. I like animals more than most people I meet. It's your right to decide who you donate money to so don't knock this man because he made a choice to help out fellow creatures who CANNOT help themselves.

Meooooow! I didn't believe in being an animal lover until... Let me tell you guys what happened to me yesterday. I stopped to a local store, a guy walked up to me and asked if I wanted any puppies who were so cute, I took one puppy. When I got home, my daughter was afraid of it, so I returned back to the store, in hope, to return the puppy to the man, but he was gone. So, across the street there were people who had my dog's brother. I explained to them what had happened as well as my reason for not being able to keep the dog with me. One of the people who happened to be a cat rescuer took both dogs and drop them off at a dog shelter in Rocky Point. To the lady rescuer, Thank YOU! To the animal shelter who has the dog I returned be extra good to them.
