School Worker Accused Of Taping Boy's Mouth

Denver police have arrested an elementary school employee accused of taping the mouth and hands of a student.

Police say 45-year-old administrator Jennifer Carter was being held Monday for investigation of child abuse and false imprisonment, both misdemeanors. A Denver jail official said a bond amount had not yet been set.

Carter was put on leave following the alleged incident Wednesday at Palmer Elementary. It was unknown if she had an attorney. Denver Public Schools spokesman Mike Vaughn called the allegations "very troubling."

The student's name and age were not released. The boy's mother told KMGH-TV last week that her son was taped after he was sent to the principal's office for misbehaving in class.

Well dang, I need to sue my daddy for nailing my foot to the floor and making me walk in circles all day. Oh yeah and my mother for laughing. Yeah, the administrator was wrong but trust me, I have wanted to do that to my own child. Oh yeah, my dog is doing to sue me for keeping him in a cage those 8 hours last night. And on and on and on. Discipline folks, as long as it is not too painful, is what all children need.

this is disturbing because it shows either 1. a lack of training, or 2. a lack of control on the part of the school to get rid of an unstable school employee. as i understand it, this was not a teacher, but someone in the office. either that person was in the office due to problems with handling kids, or else had an advanced degree. either way, it was wrong.

I agree with you Dj. When I was in the 1st grade my mouth got taped up just because another student asked me a question.. In third grade i hit a boy for grabbing my butt, and she beat me with her bare hand all over my legs and body... I told the principal and nothing was ever done.... wow.... this teacher needs to be punished they need to put tape on her and snatch it off

If I known that they could arrest teachers for taping a student mouth with tape then I would had pressed charges against my 3rd grade teacher for taping me down to the chair and my 4th grade teacher for slapping, or the princple who used to beat me with a paddle for no reason. If I known that it would be alot of teachers arrested

I can understand what the mother of this child is feeling. This same thing happened to my son when he was in the 2nd grade and the teacher was suspended and put in the library as an assistant. She was a new teacher and had no patience. Wrong profession to be in if you can't handle a 7 yr old. All he did was talk. It took everything in me not to take this girl down, but I had to be a more mature person than she was.
