Police: Grandson Broke Grandmother's Arm Trying To Get Her Purse

A grandson is accused of breaking his grandmother's arm and hitting her in the face several times while trying to get to her purse in Rocky Mount.

The victim, 66-year-old Nancy Outlaw of Covenant Court in Rocky Mount, was taken to Nash General Hospital. She was treated and released.

The suspect, 21-year-old Randall Clay Joyner, is still at large.

Police say Joyner went to his grandmother's home Friday night and requested money. They say she refused and grabbed her purse because she was afraid Joyner would tried to take it. Police say the two struggled before Joyner got the purse, took $80 and then left the home.

Warrants for common law robbery and assault inflicting serious injury have been issued for Joyner.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website, Joyner has two previous convictions for larceny.

Officer1 well said, and for all the bleeding heart liberals that believe that people like this can be "changed" with therapy, hope you aren't the next ones to have your wallet or purse snatched by such a sweet misunderstood youth.

To TarHeel and Buddy, Most people who post here are everyday people who are tired of crime and criminals. They are not impressed with the bravado of your "fight club world." They are impressed with the bravado of the veteran, the lawman, the fireman, the paramedic and the private individual who puts his or her life on the line to save an accident victim. *** If I confronted this thug, I would ram the barrels of my double-barreled shotgun into his mouth and hold him at gunpoint until local law enforcement arrived and hope I wouldn't be in more serious trouble for apprehending this thug. *** Thugs who attack women, the elderly, the handicapped, and torture dogs are usually very cowardly.

since we all know that in reality none of us will ever come face to face with this scumbag to give him any type of vigilante justice, i say let's pray that he gets housed with inmates that were raised by their grandmothers. i'm sure one of them will take care of doing all the things we are wishing on him right now. and let's pray for the grandmother. can you imagine what she's going through? i mean would she have turned him in if she hadn't been hurt to the point of requiring medical treatment? what i'm getting at is she is probably going through a ton of emotions right now including guilt for somehow thinking this is her fault.

To the person who was responding to Tar Heel: If they're smart, then they'll grab their wallets and purses. You never know what a druggie might do for some money!!! It would be smart to keep some form of protection on you as well.
