The Nebraska man who smoked marijuana from a makeshift bong that had a kitten stuffed inside is going to jail for 90 days.

Lancaster County Judge Gale Pokorny also ordered 21-year-old Acea Schomaker to pay almost $1,200 in restitution to the Capitol Humane Society for its care of the kitten, which has since been adopted.

Authorities charged Schomaker with animal cruelty in March after he was caught smoking pot from a contraption that had the cat stuffed inside its 12-by-6-inch base.

Schomaker contends he's not an animal abuser. He told his probation officer that if he disliked an animal, he "would not be wasting pot on it."

I agree with Wilma. Some folks, regardless of age, are just a waste of space and oxygen. What a dummy this guy is...

@Confused, all you really need to know is that the guy built a smoking rig that included a chamber the cat was stuffed inside. As for the why, the guy clearly thought the cat would enjoy it the same as he did, but my previous post explains why this is untrue, though I forgot to mention that cats are, by nature, claustrophobic. Well, they love open areas. A kitten, maybe a cat, will tolerate being held in a ball or other tight fit, but only in a loving or playful way, and will not tolerate being put inside something in a similar position; they will immediately try to escape.

I don't understand the whole concept of using a kitty in a bong...what happens and why even involve an animal in a bong? Can someone help me out here? Its very disgusting that this happened. What an idiot.

Well, it's animal abuse either way he looks at it, and 90 days is nothing for that. See, even if the guy liked recreational drugs himself, the point is that an animal hasn't got the mental capacity to enjoy, let alone understand, the "high" from a drug. In fact, any drug that gets you "high" really just has a small amount of poison in it. It's not enough to really hurt you (human), but it does tweak your head a bit. It interferes with your senses. Animals have higher senses than we do, and limited understanding - aside from being squeezed into a small space, the cat probably felt sick, confused, lost, and above all neglected by its owner. Now I am not big on animal activism, but there is no way that that is not totally wrong. I would say at least six months in the pen. And somehow not to be allowed to own a pet.
