Three Year Old Throws Back Dad's Foul Ball Catch

A South Jersey toddler is getting national attention for doing one of those unexpected things kids do. She threw back a foul ball her dad had just caught at last night's Phillies game.

And even though his daughter threw away the ball Steven Monforto says he'd waited his whole life to catch, he says he can't be mad at his little girl. He says it's a special moment they'll share.

Video shows three-year-old Emily throwing back the ball seconds after her dad handed it to her, and her shocked dad throwing up his hands in amazement. Then he hugs her. Monforto says he didn't want her to think she'd done anything wrong.

The Phillies later gave Monforto another ball.

I'm not a sports fan,but I am a dad. I think he handled the whole thing perfectly...and kudos to the team for replacing the ball for him.

If you watch the video, it's funny and heartwarming. The memory of the event and national attention makes it even more impressive than the nice catch by the dad. Best baseball highlight I've seen in a long time.

I agree, Jim. It is so nice to read something that isn't violent or tragic. That daddy may not have that ball but he will have that memory of a time shared with his baby girl AND a really cool video of the whole thing to treasure forever.
