Father Arrested For DWI While Kids On Back Of Moped

A father was arrested for taking his kids for a ride on his moped while police say he was intoxicated.

Rocky Mount Police arrested 44 year-old Antonia Lawrence Saturday and charged him with DWI and Child Abuse.

He was also cited for riding without a helmet.

Police say Lawrence told them he was giving his seven and ten year-old a ride when he ran off the side of the road and turned it over.

His two children suffered broken legs but are listed in stable condition according to police.

Lawrence has a court date set for next month.

This was sad, but you cannot say that parents don't need alcohol. I am a parent and I drink occasionally, but I know not to put my children in danger when I do it. This man just used bad judgment but don't try to condemn everyone! You need to sweep around your OWN front door before you try to sweep around mine!

I have said it numerous times and I will keep on saying it unitl someone gets the message that can do something about it. A couple needs to have an IQ test in order to be able to have children, if they pass with at least ABOVE AVERAGE IQ then issue a license to reproduce but if they score just average IQ or below then they should not be considered able to have children and therefore, sterilized so they cannot reproduce. Because, in this case the father clearly did not love his children or he would not have put then on the back of a moped while he was intoxicated. Also, OUTLAW the sale of ALCOHOL TO PARENTS and there should be an indicator on drivers's license and EVERYONE should show ID when buying alcohol. I know children can be a "handful" at times but if you do not think you can handle it as a parent, KEEP YOUR CLOTHES ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of a guy from Wilson, Bobby Jo Ongaro, that took his young daughter 4 wheeling on the road. He went ahead and she ran into a car at a gas station. Court case Friday 9/11 in Nash Co. Don't understand some parents!!
