It looks like new traffic patterns at a Pitt County high school turned out to be challenging for more than just the drivers. "Merdge Left" is now painted on the pavement at D.H. Conley High School.
An observant WITN viewer tipped us off on the error. Sure enough, it's true. The new pavement markings are in front of the school's portable classrooms, near the main entrance where two lanes turn into one.
School spokeswoman Heather Mayo says it wasn't a school system employee who made the mistake, but a contractor hired to repaint parking lot lines over the weekend.
The contractor fixed the mistake and now the pavement reads "Merge Left".
