Psychologists Repudiate Gay-To-Straight Therapy

The American Psychological Association has declared that mental health professionals should not tell gay clients that they can become straight through therapy or other treatments.

Instead, the APA is urging therapists to consider multiple options -- that could range from celibacy to switching churches -- for helping clients whose sexual orientation and religious faith conflict.

In a resolution adopted by the APA's governing council and in a
comprehensive report based on two years of research, the
association puts itself firmly on record in opposition of so-called
"reparative therapy" which seeks to change sexual orientation.

No solid evidence exists that such change is likely, says the report, and some research suggests that efforts to produce change could be harmful, inducing depression and suicidal tendencies.

i have posted before: we are entering into another mini-iceage, similiar to the one in the early 1700's. here is my theory on 'global warming': hurricanes move a tremendous amount of heat from the souther to the norther hemisphere. that heat HAS to affect the environment, thus ice melting and so on. but, overall, the earth is cooling. indisputable. a third gender? hummm....

Nathan, I understand the need to DNA it away. However, you and I both know to date it is pure theory. As of yet there is no concrete proof for a homosexual gene. I held onto that for a good while. You continue to believe whatever you need to that gets you through the days. My friends and I have, well, we have a different perspective.

When I read the part about changing churches I laughed. If I were in a church that accepted homosexual behavior I would get up and run not walk out and never look back.GOD gave them over to a reprobate mind.GOD said it I believe it,end of discussion.

Read up on glaciation, OSOC. How else did the the Canadian Shield become exposed? How did the prairies/plains become so flat? Can you explain glacial moraines? Or large boulders that stand alone in the middle of a prairie? These simple facts you can search online.

Derek, ice doesn't move as you imply.

To Derek: As always, a sincere thanks for disagreeing without being rude. I will candidly admit that you raise some interesting points; but at the end of the day it's as you said: We believe what we choose to believe. I [like anyone else] base my beliefs on upbringing,my own observations, and of course,The Bible. I can't even begin to speak for the animals; perhaps the ones you mentioned were confused somehow? To your other points,in order:Yes,she has. No,I don't [don't care for pork or seafood]. Yes,I have. I make no claims of perfection, only God and His Son can do so. I,like everyone else,am a sinner, but a sinner saved by grace. All Christians sin occasionally. God loves all people, and to Him sin is sin. My point is that homosexuality is also a sin,but any sin an unsaved person commits is simply a manifestation of their lost condition. When a Christian sins,God forgives them, but He expects repentance and a forsaking of that sin. Anyway, almost out of characters here. Highest Regards, C
