PlayMakers Theater Gets NEA Grant

PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill has been awarded a national arts grant for its production of "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby."

The $30,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant will support the play as it is performed Nov. 11 through Dec. 20. It's the second year in a row that the professional theater company has received an NEA grant.

The play will be the biggest production in PlayMakers' history with 25 actors playing more than 150 characters. The play was written by David Edgar from the novel by Charles Dickens.

PlayMakers is based in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
