Man Charged In Lawn Chair Assault, Robbery

Police say a western North Carolina man has been charged with robbing a man and beating him with a lawn chair.

The Record & Landmark of Statesville reports that 36-year-old Kenneth Wayne Mills of Statesville is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities allege that Mills struck an unidentified 46-year-old man in the back of the head with a lawn chair, knocking him unconscious, and stole his money early Saturday morning.

The victim was unconscious for a number of hours before he went home. He was treated at a local hospital for facial injuries.

Officials say they found a lawn chair with blood on it near where the victim was assaulted.

Lets get the story straight! I am a personal friend of the "lawn chair" victim and every bone in his face was crushed and required HOURS of surgery because of some psycho who wanted some money..My friend would give you the shirt off of his back and this Mr. Mills doesn't even hall the balls to FACE the victim..He hits him from behind, knocking him out and THEN proceeds to beat his head in with a lawn chair..I feel for ANYONE who has to go through such abuse, whether its a beer bottle or a knife..Just don't make "light" of a lawn chair until you know the entire story..We hope that the authorities will not let Mr. Mills "off the hook" like they have in the past! He deserves to sit in THAT particular lawn chair while he spends time in a jail cell!! What if the victim were a loved one of yours and you read this kinda crap!! THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!! Monica

GREAT! One can get felony assault charges just by hitting someone over the head with a lawn chair,IMMEDIATELY!! (Grant it, he was robbed and did suffer injuries to his face.) But a person assaulted with a full bottle of beer, just because he is gay, resulting in near death injuries,11 days in the hospital, and it takes 3 1/2 months to bring felony charges against him? Something is desperately wrong with our Judicial System, don't ya think?

If lawn chairs are outlawed, only outlaws would have lawn chairs.

Lawn chairs do not kill on there own. It is criminal people with lawn chairs who can kill. Join your local "NLCA" National Lawn Chair Association. We must protect our lawn chairs before Obama takes them away.

Mr T you hit the nail on the head. Can I carry a concealed lawn chair without being chared with "going armed to the terror of the public"? How about in a resturant, national park and am I allowed to use one if someone enters my home?

I have always known that lawn chairs are far too dangerous for us ordinary citizens to own.Only Police and Military should be allowed to have them. Also, I bet it was an assault lawn chair.Bet if he choose to he could have struck that man more than once without reloading.Of course this proves if you place your hit well, it only takes one.At least lets get a 7 day waiting period and a criminal background check to purchase a lawn chair.
