AP Report: Insomniac Jackson Begged For Drug

A nutritionist who was working to get Michael Jackson in shape for a comeback bid says she strongly advised him not to take a powerful sedative to battle insomnia.

But Cherilyn Lee, a registered nurse and nutritional counselor, says Jackson was distraught over persistent insomnia in recent months. Lee says Jackson pleaded for Diprivan, despite her warnings it could be harmful. She says she repeatedly rejected his demands for the drug, which is given intravenously.

Lee says she got a frantic phone call from Jackson four days before his death that made her fear that he gotten hold of Diprivan or another drug to induce sleep.

She says she was in Florida when contacted by a Jackson staffer and heard Jackson saying in the background that one side of his body felt hot, the other side very cold.

Lee says she told the staffer that Jackson needed to go to the hospital "right away." Jackson did not go to the hospital. He died June 25, apparently from cardiac arrest.

Haven't we heard enough about Michael Jackson? It was his life, and he chose to live it the way he did, and he brought on an early death. So. What is the big deal. Have the funeral and let his family mourn his death in peace. He said, she said. I had rather hear about Farrah Faucett and the life she had and lived. But because she was no drug addict her life was unimportant to the media.
