Nun Arrested For Confronting Police

MIAMI (AP) — A South Florida nun found herself in handcuffs this week after she allegedly confronted a Miami police officer who was trying to disarm a homeless man.

According to a police report, Sister Margaret Anthony was cited for obstructing justice and disorderly conduct, which are both misdemeanor offenses. Police spokesman Delrish Moss said she was not taken to jail and court date has not yet been set.

Moss said the officer was called to a shelter Monday after authorities received calls about a homeless man wielding a knife and ice pick. The officer had the homeless man at gunpoint and was asking onlookers to stay back. That's when the nun stood between the officer and the homeless man, disrupting the operation.

They should charge the Nun and if sentenced let her do her ministry in the jail system. The man had a knife and ice pick and the officer was trying to do his job after he was called to the scene. All she did was get in the way. Maybe we should let the policeman preach and do the nun's job. I am so tired of people thinking they know better or second guess the officer at the scene~! Let the trained professionals do their job.

This nun endangered herself, the officer and other people in the area. The cop was called in to disarm a man that allegedly had a knife and/or ice pick and had been threatening people. The homeless man could have easily stuck the ice pick into her spine as she blocked the officer. The officer was correct in charging her. Of course the judge will probably just give her a fine or community service, but I imagine the real point of arresting her, was to get her out of the way so that the crazy homeless guy with the icepick could be dealt with in a safe manner. There was once a case in which a mentally ill patient threatened a dentist with a screwdriver. Cops were called and the dentist pulled the same stunt that this nun did. The dentist blocked the officer from the suspect and the the suspect then grabbed a dental hygenist and shoved the screw driver into her eye socket to the hilt, killing her. When dealing with armed crazy people, stay out of the cops business and out of his way.

This Nun is a moron for doing wht she did. She may have tried to help out the homeless man but come on, why risk gettting arrested? It's not worth it.

Welcome to Socialist Americanamexa. Upon Janet Napolitano's decree, police officers will now detain anyone in posession of free speech. Of course we do not have the entire story here. Did the man have an ice pick? Did he endanger anyone? Did he have a gun? This nun may have handled the situation poorly but two charges? Meanwhile Alqaeda operatives in the USSA are planning to destroy more human lives. Continue on with the good work of keeping those dangerous nuns under control.
