Gay Marriage Takes Center Stage In Grifton

Over a 100 people descended on the town common in Grifton Saturday to voice their concerns over gay marriage.

They want state lawmakers to pass a House and Senate bill which would add a marriage amendment to the states constitution.

The group We Luv Marriage says they want to send a message to lawmakers letting them know exactly how they feel.

"I want to make sure marriage stays the way it is," says Amy Weber who came to the event with her children and her husband Doug.

North Carolina does not allow gay marriage and many here want lawmakers to make sure that door stays closed.

Which is why there are pushing for a constitutional amendment to North Carolina's state Constitution.

"It's not wanting to change the law," says Johanna Heltsley one of the event organizers. "It's to make sure that the law is clearly defined as one man and one woman."

As of now only 5 states allow gay marriage and that would be Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa Maine.

New Hampshire has passed a bill that would allow gay marriage but it's not clear if the governor will sign it.

Rhode Island has legislation pending.

Here is the email of the woman in charge of all this anti-gay marriage garbage. Please fill her inbox with gay love and equal rights to ALL! She is against gay rights in any form.

1oftheclosedminded as of recently and over the past years, slowly, the gay community is going after the American community inorder to make their lifestyle an acceptabable lifestyle. They are plugging away "literally" at getting this shoved down our throats before conservatives take back over. Why? They have a liberal president and both houses. I am guessing that GBHB has an extended stay in the Castro district......we have not heard from him.

Is that the best you can do? I seriously doubt you are in Cali. See how easy it is to be from anywhere.

one of the closed minded, in some cases, its the movement, in some cases its a cut up. They normally post as the "Castro District". I am pretty sure Derek and GBHB should be there visiting to see this great wonderfull place of culture and kindness for themselves. I recommend it to anyone that wants to promote gay marriage or homosexual behavior. It would make for quite and experience.

I'm Queer and Proud, you guys need to get over your Homophobia, your Bigotry, your Closed-minded small-towns mentality and come out the Closet.Honey,i'm a Diva and i tell it like it should be,never will i tell you a lie.I'm Gay-forward with you,no matter what. You guys are just not comfortable with your sexuality so you try to make your selves look all Hetero by saying we are Sinners and we are not appropriate for society. It may be that way in your little family towns, but not in "Our" City it's not.You can be as open, and Queer as you want to be in San Francisco.
