Is It A Bear? It's The Question Many In The East Are Asking

A wild animal has been stirring up trouble in Eastern Carolina for the second week in a row. Authorities say a bear attacked a pair of dogs last week in Beaufort County.

Now, Craven County residents say a wild bear is mangling fences and rifling through trash bins.

Marty Drapal says his neighbor actually saw the furry creature Tuesday morning after it had been looking for a mid-morning snack.

Tuesday is trash day in the Brices Creek Community and wildlife officials encourage residents to keep trash bins out of sight in the evening.

Wildlife officials say that if you happen to see a bear, give it plenty of space and do not corner the animal and that they're only protective when they feel threatened.
