Man Attacked By Pit Bulls Feared For His Life

A Kinston man is recovering after he says he was attacked by two Pit Bulls.

L.H. Clemmons says the attack happened last week when he was taking trash to his truck.

The dogs, owned by a neighbor, clawed at the man's face and he ran towards his home fearing for his life.

The dog named Max, the one believed responsible for the attack, is now in the hands of the S.P.C.A. Clemmons says he was attacked by his neighbor's white pit bull as well. He says the dogs got loose in the front yard.

"I tried to talk to him and get him back up. Finally the white dog lunged at me and hit me upside the head. Hit me upside my head and it was a hell of a lick."

Clemmons showed WITN how the dogs knocked him into his brick wall and spun him around. He says he was finally able to muster the strength and make it to the safety of his home.

His neighbors have several dogs including Pit Bulls and hunting dogs. They say their dogs have been attacked by the Clemmons family in the past.

"He had his reasons. Why is that? Well, he's been sprayed with cans, whatever, shot with a b.b. guns and hit with a cow teaser," says Matthew Peyton. Peyton's brother owns the two dogs in questions and has decided to move.

Clemmons maintains no one in his family has attacked his neighbors dogs. He's just happy to hear Max won't be back.
