7 Month-Old Texas Boy Killed By Grandmother's Pit Bulls

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A 7-month-old boy has died after being attacked by two pit bull dogs belonging to his grandmother in San Antonio.

Police Chief Bill McManus says the grandmother was getting ready to feed the boy Tuesday morning and went to her kitchen for his bottle. When she returned her dogs were attacking the baby.

The woman got a knife and stabbed one of the dogs, and got the child away.

The chief says the dogs then attacked the grandmother before she managed to get them outside.

Police killed the dogs in her backyard.

Authorities said the child was dead at University Hospital. Police said the grandmother was being treated at the hospital.

Police did not identify the family or say if charges would be filed.

I agree Erin. People are taking God's order and making animals into people (family members). No, dogs should never be mistreated, but they should be kept at a distance for safety reasons. This is one sad example as to why.

To the person who said something aoubt "safe Breed" There are no "safe breeds" All dogs have teeth. My daughter was bit by a lab. I'm not taking up for the pits, I'm saying that children should be monitored at ALL times with dogs. We were lucky, I was within arms reach of the dog and my child when she was bitten and she only has 1 small scar, I can't imagine what that family is going through...

Oh I bet these were the sweetest dogs in the whole wide word. They wouldn't hurt a flea. Yeah. Right. But they will kill a baby. Kill all the pits, let God sort out the good ones.

If it quacks like a duck, and walks like a duck, and mauls you then kills you like a pitbull.... then it's a pitbull! Poor baby... RIP

Where are all the pitt bull people? Why aren't you taking up for these dogs? Are you admitting there are bad pitts in family atmospheres.

It has been a consistant story, pit bull attacks and kills dog people, bite, at what point do the "these are such sweet dogs they sleep with my child at night" people get it? I notice you are not on this site yet since you would be screaming on why the were justified or whatever excuse you would use. Well, they are dangerous, keep away from "all" kids and other dogs. Keep them in your house, locked in or get another breed known to be "safe" to have as a "family" pet. Google pit bull attacks, maybe you will get it?

Let me guess, these pit bulls were raised to fight, trained to kill, viscious animals right, perfect example of why these dogs cannot be trusted, they all need to be euthanized, it's in their blood, get a clue, no response needed from you people who are pit bull worshippers, have a nice day :)
